Cobra Clubman seats
Hi Spike I have some Cobra New Clubman bucket seats in black with blue centres. They are in fairly good condition with the odd mark and a couple of holes. I will need the seat mounting frames though. What sort of money were you thinking of spending? These would cost you over £200 new but I would take £125 for them. I live in Woodford, North East London. Cheers Tim

I take it the problem is with the shoulder supports? I fitted the seat frame on the inboard side of the seat brackets and loosened both brackets and pushed them both as inboard as they will go ang it just cleared the door. You'll need to make up a small plate to fit in the seat brackets to stop them squashing when you tighten up the bolts.

do you mean the bolts that hold the sub-frame to the chair, or the bolts that hold the sub-frame to the actual car?
think the sub-frame to chair bolts should be hardened round-toped M8's, and the bolts holding the chair to the car should also be M8's, doesn't really matter what type tho. had a similar problem fitting my cobra's but happened to have some bolts lyin around the right size

New Seats for the beast!
does anyone know if the subframes that come with the cobra clubmans front seat package from mini sport (http://www.minisport.com/classic-mini-shop/products/seats-seatbelts-harnesses/cobra-seats-packages/cobra-classic-clubman-seats-and-product.html) will tilt forward?? I've emailed them but still have'n got an answer. Tilting subframes from minisport are something like £40 each, so since the front seat package is quite cheap I was worried that they only came with sliding subframes.

Seat subframes
The people I brought cobra seats and frames from have returned my call and what they do is cut the first two holes away at the front mountings so you are only left with the one hole on each front mount. Have tried this and it seems to work. You also need to have the orginal mountings that bolt into the box section and the bar that is bolted into rear floor pan.

Front Seats
i think cobra used to make special subframes for them no longer made tho, if your seats currently have a latch to stop them tipping your new seats will need the same or be fixed solid, any mount to car needs to be 4mm thick i seem to rember. hopefully somone will of made or modifyied there own subframe

mini seats
I found the Cobra Classics to be very uncomfortable. They lean too far back for me and I never felt very safe in them. They're also not great if you plan to have rear passengers.
What you need is a nice set of recliners, either new from Cobra or Corbeau or from another type of car. You can get a lot of them to fit a standard set of subframes for after market mini seats. I've got a pair of seats from a Sierra Cosworth in mine and are very comfortable.

harnesses
what i did with my harneses is use the seatbelt mounts for the backseats, saves drilling holes in the floor and is already strengthend for mounting seat belts so goes through an mot. as for the roll cage my personal opinion is that bolt in ones are fine, theyre easyer to fit, just as safe and you can take them out if you need to. cant help you with seat subframes, still trying to find some decent ones for my cobras, the ones i got with them were crap. as for gettin people in the back, i dont think so with roll cage, bucket seats and harnesses i cant even reach through to open my back windows with mine.

Frames
What sort of fixings do they have underneath and are they flat bottomed are the two main questions. If they are flat and the spacing is right for the fixings, you might get away with an after market subframe for Cobra seats etc. If not, you may need to try a set of base mounts from Deamon Tweeks and the like that are for posh racing seats. Either way you will probably have to mod the frames a bit. I have Recaros in mine and they are fitted using an after market pair of slide rails and a second cross member welded into the car to mount it all on. Big job but adds loads of strength to the body.

re:
Ultimately it depends what seats you opt for. composite seats i.e. carbon/fibreglass frame are usually side mounted whereas steel framed seats like the popular cobra clubman are base mounted. Also what you use your car for, if you need the rear seats you really need base mounted seats.
Also a consideration, side mounted seats will have to be fixed behind the crossmember so make sure you're tall enough to reach the pedals/gearlever etc from back there.
I use my car on trackdays/sprints and as an everyday driver. i've got cobra clubman buckets but i've modified the seat subframes to get them to sit a little lower and i've moved the mounts for the drivers seat towards the centre of the car a little and welded them to the back of the crossmember instead of the front to give myself more legroom

Dodgy seat - need a part
I have cobra seats. One of the seat is not secure on the subframe. The problem is the plastic thing (in picture) is broken and needs replacing. The plastic thing sits in the runners as pictured. Anyone know where I can get replacement rubbers?
